Five questions to ask a landlord before you book
A short checklist for your first call with a landlord, so there are no surprises on opening day.
A good conversation with the landlord saves you days of stress later. Keep it short and practical. These five questions cover what brands most often forget.
When can I set up and when do I leave?
Ask for the exact check-in and check-out times on the first and last day. Setting up a pop-up often takes a full day, so check if that day is included.
Who do I call when something breaks?
Get one name and one phone number for the whole period, including weekends.
What is the space like at night?
Ask about locks, alarms and lighting. If you leave stock in the space overnight, check what the landlord insurance covers and what you need to insure yourself.
What did other pop-ups do here?
Landlords remember what worked: which days were busy, where people stopped, which neighbours helped. This is free advice from someone who knows the street.
Can we change the dates if needed?
Plans move. Ask how flexible the landlord is before you book, and keep the answer in writing in your messages on Pop This Shop.
Tip: send your questions through the messages on the listing. Everything stays in one place, next to your booking.
